Police, emergency services and an ambulance were called to the scene at 4.25pm on Friday.
– This is a very serious accident, the damage is serious, said Sophia Jiglind, press spokesperson for the police, shortly after the accident.
A 65-year-old man was confirmed dead at the scene, police said on Friday evening. The man had been hit by a truck while riding a bicycle, in the Stjärnsund area just outside Askersund. Relatives have been notified.
The police are investigating
The police have opened a preliminary investigation regarding causing another person’s death, according to routine. Several investigative measures must be taken. There are no suspects at this time.
One lane was closed during the rescue work. At 21.20 the road is said to be completely open again.
