Serious cases of influenza among children in Örebro County

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The flu has struck with full force against several patient groups this winter, including children.

Among the common symptoms, the region reports fever, muscle aches, sore throats and coughs affecting everyone, and that nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are common among children.

– The fever can remain for up to a week and it is normally enough to treat the symptoms with over-the-counter antipyretic drugs, says Carl Johan Oldaeus Almerén, specialist in child and adolescent medicine.

More severe symptoms

Among the more serious symptoms of influenza that Regon Örebro County reports on, which also affected children, are chest pains, labored breathing, more severe abdominal pains and a fever over 40 degrees that does not decrease after antipyretic medicine.
