Two passenger cars have collided head-on outside Charlottenberg in Värmland, close to the Norwegian border.
An ambulance helicopter has just landed at the scene of the accident.
– It is a serious accident, says Nina Begallo, team leader for the Bergslagen rescue region.
A total of three cars were involved in the accident which occurred at 10.30 am on national highway 61 between Eda and Charlottenberg. Two of the cars collided head-on, while the third is said to have only suffered minor sheet metal damage.
– Two people are injured. One of them was trapped, but at 11.09 we received word that the person had been removed, says Begallo.
The extent of the injuries to those involved is unclear, but both the police and the emergency services state that it is a very serious accident.
– An ambulance helicopter has just landed. In addition, three ambulances, emergency services and police are on site, says Nina Begallo.
Road closed
Just before 11:30 a.m., the police announced that both drivers have been taken to hospital in an ambulance and ambulance helicopter.
The road is closed in both directions and is expected to be closed until 2 p.m.
– It’s a serious accident, so it’s rubbish and stuff like that on the road, says Begallo.
The police have impounded both cars for technical examination.
