One Piece fans were completely out of their shells when Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis was cast in the manga character Dr. Kureha was promised. Unfortunately, the dream casting of the 141-year-old doctor did not materialize due to scheduling problems and one thing was clear: whoever gets the role will have a hard time making up for the disappointment.

Now the role has been cast for the Netflix series – and things turned out completely differently. Fans are even thrilled by the ingenious choice. One X-user wrote to much acclaim: “The casting department deserves a raise, they always hit the mark.”

According to TVLine, US actress Katey Sagal, known from the cult sitcom Married with Children and the biker drama Sons of Anarchy, has landed the role of Dr. Kureha. Not only was she the wife of Al Bundy, but she is now also fictionally married to Dan Conner (John Goodman) after replacing Roseanne in the ongoing spin-off sitcom The Conners. She also lends her voice to the sci-fi cyclops Leela from Futurama in the original English version.

According to Deadline, other new signings for season 2 of One Piece include Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra and Mark Harelik (Preacher) as Dr. Hiriluk. You can find all other casting and background information about the upcoming season in our know-it-all article.

Thanks to original author Eiichiro Oda, we now also know which locations the Straw Hat Pirates will visit in the next chapter. Fans of the manga or anime version can look forward to Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden and Drum Island. The Kingdom of Alabasta will not be visited until Season 3.
