Last week, growing the Dexter universe was still a long way off, now it is serial killer franchise Reality: Following the 8-season original series and Michael C. Hall’s return in the sequel miniseries Dexter: New Blood, here we are at least 3 new Dexter series certain, as has now been announced.
These 3 new serial killer series await us in the Dexter universe
The broadcaster Showtime merges with Paramount+ and apparently wants to outstrip Netflix as a serial killer entertainer after series like Dahmer, Mindhunter and You. Dexter enjoyed great popularity from 2006 to 2013 (despite a controversial series ending) and Dexter: New Blood was also a ratings hit in 2022-23 (again despite a controversial finale). The logical conclusion that the creators around Clyde Phillips draw from the success: Dexter needs a franchise. And according to THR, three specific upcoming series are already being planned.
1. Dexter: Origins tells of the young serial killer years
As a full series, the prequel has already been released DexterOrigins ordered. This is where it unfolds origin story of the crime-killing serial killer that had already been hinted at in Dexter in flashbacks. Showtime describes it like this:

Dexter: Origins – with a young serial killer (here the Dexter flashbacks)
Dexter: Origins dramatizes young Dexter Morgen on the brink of becoming the avenging serial killer he will one day become. At this time is Miami the hotbed of real-life serial killers. The series begins with Dexter after graduating from college when he joins the Miami Metro Police Department and many younger versions of well-known characters from the original series meets.
Dexter: Origins should also focus on Dexter’s family lie, that is, the surviving foster father Harry Morgan and Dexter’s adoptive sister Deb as a teenager.
2. Dexter: New Blood will become a Harrison spin-off
Although it was just leaked that Dexter: New Blood would not get a second season, the one it started will Story of Dexter’s son Harrison (Jack Alcott) retold. Possibly with a new series title. Or in the end as New Blood.
Dexter: New Blood starring Harrison
In it, Harrison flees after NYC and must confront his own violent nature. The only question is: does he wear it like his father compulsion to kill in itself? Or does his own “dark companion” have other excesses than Papa Dexter’s?
3. Dexter: Trinity returns as the original series’ toughest opponent
Most recently, Showtime also wants to further explore the Dexter franchise by having the broadcaster Backstories of iconic series characters researched. Consequently, far more than three new Dexter series are possible. It is not yet clear who exactly this will affect – with one exception: John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer will be part of this spin-off series.
We remember: The serial killer, who became Dexter’s most memorable opponent in season 4, was active all over the USA for decades and always killed 3 murders: First a woman died in a bathtub, then a mother jumping off the roof and finally a family man with a hammer. (It later turned out that fourth at the beginning was a baby cast in concrete.)

Dexter: Trinity
In the end, of course, the biggest question remains: Is it possible? Dexter franchise without Michael C. Hall work, which breathed life into Dexter as the main character? Because the actor said goodbye to his character (narratively in Dexter: New Blood and publicly as a star).
