On a trip to Belgrade on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August to finalise several economic agreements, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the signing of a contract for the sale of 12 Rafale fighter jets to Belgrade. As the country is a candidate to join the European Union, this is a further step towards Brussels while this Balkan country maintains friendly ties with Russia.
