Sequel to one of his biggest cult series comes later than expected

The last Shrek film was 14 years ago, but now the sequel is officially confirmed. The fifth part is in development and brings back all the original stars in their signature roles. The US release date has also been set.

Shrek 5 will be released in 2026

As Variety reports, the release date for the next Shrek film has been set at July 1, 2026 During the Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. promo tour, Eddie Murphy, the voice of Donkey, said that the new part of the animated series would be released in 2025.

A German release date for Shrek 5 is not yet known. However, the next part should also be released here sometime in summer 2026.

After Shrek 5, the series’ favorite animal gets its own film

Shrek fans can look forward to more than just a fifth film in the series. Eddie Murphy himself announced that after the next part of the franchise, there will also be a own donkey film is rotated.
