A student in Moscow has been sentenced to ten days in prison by a Russian court after renaming his Wi-Fi to a pro-Ukraine slogan, the state-run Russian news agency Ria Novosti reports.
The university student renamed his network “slava ukraini”, which means “glory to Ukraine”.
According to the court, he had broken a law which, among other things, prohibits the dissemination of symbols of so-called “extremist organisations”.
It was a police officer who reported the network name to the authorities.
Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, thousands of prison sentences and fines have been issued to people who publicly criticized the war or showed support for Ukraine.
