Sent threatening emails to himself – prosecuted

It was during an ongoing custody dispute that the man received the emails, which had a sender address that included the former partner’s name. However, the woman claimed that she had a different email address, and that it was the man himself who had sent the messages.

During the course of the investigation, the police were subsequently able to establish that the threatening emails came from an address that can be linked to the 43-year-old’s mobile phone.

In questioning, the man has explained the whole thing that his mobile phone was taken over by Spanish and Russian hackers. Now he is charged with illegal use of identity and two counts of false representation because he chose to report the threats to the police.
