Matti Mononen has had to deliver on his tough promises before. Last summer, Mononen promised to run 400 meters with a pole in less than a minute if Salminen sets a three-jump Finnish record. Salminen jumped on the new SE in his opening race of the season.
Salminen was supposed to be in the World Cup Hall in Belgrade last week, but he skipped the Games as a precaution. Now the trainings have already started towards the summer.

On Sunday, the World Championships halls saw quite a result in the women’s triple jump. Yulimar Rojas jumped the world record of 15.74. Senni Salminen’s Finnish record for last summer is 14.63.
Salminen was not surprised by the horror of Venezuelan Rojas.
– Really inspiring. Rojas have no boundaries. The jump is taken as far as possible. It’s really cool to follow, Salminen said.
