Taleb Abdallah was killed on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in an air raid carried out by the Israeli air force in the town of Jowailla, 25 km from the front. This is the highest ranking Hezbollah officer killed by Israel since the start of clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli bordereight months ago.

According to consistent sources, he led the elite al-Nasr unit, which means “victory” in Arabic. His age, 55, suggests that he had a rank equivalent to that of general in a traditional army.

Heavy losses

The senior military commanders of the Shiite party are unknown to the general public. Their names, faces and the positions they held are only revealed after their death. Hezbollah also announced this Wednesday the death of three other fighters, bringing its losses to seven in 24 hours.

On January 8, the anti-Israeli party lost a major military leader, Wissam Tawil, when the car he was in was blown up by an air-to-ground missile in southern Lebanon.
