In Senegal, the Grand Magal ended on Tuesday, September 5. This gigantic religious event, which brought together more than 5 million faithful in the city of Touba, commemorates the departure into exile in Gabon of the founder of Mouridism, a Sufi brotherhood. For the occasion, the Caliph General of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Bassirou Mbacké, one of the most important religious figures in Senegal, gave a speech with very political tones.
