Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambety, known for Touki Bouki, international critics’ prize at Cannes in 1973 and Hyènes, would have been 80 years old today. He died in 1998 in Paris, and left behind a compact body of work, but adored by his fans. And his legacy continues to be perpetuated by his former companions who call themselves the Mambety Boys.
