In Senegal, it is a bill that is controversial. It concerns the reform of the amnesty law adopted in March 2024, which plans to exempt prosecution those responsible for crimes and crimes committed during the opposition demonstrations between February 2021 and February 2024, having left at least 65 dead. While the new authorities had promised to repeal this law, the proposal of the ruling party is ultimately to interpret it rather than cancel it. Result: on March 27, 2025, 18 civil society associations asked Parliament to postpone the examination of the amnesty law, in order to allow the establishment of a national consensus.
