Selma had guests at home in Robertsfors when her dog attacked.

She was badly bitten and died from her injuries.

– It is a tragedy. She was the world’s biggest animal lover, perhaps too much for her own good, says daughter Guna.

Last Sunday, the police and ambulance were called to an address in Robertsfors municipality. A dog had attacked people.

It was at the home of 62-year-old Selma where her dog attacked her and one of her two guests. The guest was taken to hospital but Selma was so badly bitten that she died from her injuries.

An hour earlier, daughter Guna, 31, had spoken to her mother Selma on the phone.

– We talked about changing the tires the next day. But that did not happen. This is such a tragedy and we have lost our beloved mother and best friend,” says Guna.

Had attacked before

She has been told that the party was about to go to bed when the dog, an Amstaff named Papi, attacked the man in the party. He would sleep on the sofa bed, which was the dog’s place. When the dog bit the man, Selma took the dog out. But it did not calm down and attacked her as well.

– I can’t imagine that fight, says Guna.

Selma had taken over the dog from another family a few years ago. She is described by those close to her as a true animal lover, had worked with animals and was an agricultural specialist. The daughter says that she has been in close contact with her mother and they see each other often. But since two years ago, they never hang out at Selma’s house because of an incident when the dog bit Guna’s daughter.

– That time I was outside and heard my daughter screaming, and then also my mother. I ran in and threw myself down to get the dog to let go of my daughter. She was only two years old then. It was terrible, says Guna.

“I hate that dog”

Guna’s daughter did well under the circumstances and doesn’t remember much of the incident, but it left a big mark on Guna. From that day on, she refused to see the dog and wanted it euthanized. Guna tells us that there was talk of the dog moving, but that for some reason that didn’t happen.

– I have always been afraid that something else will happen and had nightmares. I hate that dog. Mom was so nice and caring and then this happened, the worst thing that could happen. She put everyone else first and maybe saved another person’s life, she says.
