Seko’s criticism of the Swedish Transport Administration after the train clock derailment: “Should be more careful and start from traffic stops”

Alex Weinfors, chairman of Seko’s branch organization for rail traffic, believes that the Swedish Transport Administration did not have a clear picture of what risks existed at the place where the train derailed outside Hudiksvall.

– The Swedish Transport Administration should have routines where you are much more careful. If it’s this type of rain, I think that preparedness needs to be increased at the Swedish Transport Administration in order to have more train stops, says Alex Weinfors.

The Swedish Transport Administration themselves have previously said that they should have stopped the train.

– We had not assessed that there was such a risk before it happened. It went very quickly, we didn’t have time to go to the site and inspect, but we only had time to get reports that they were high flows, Anna-Pia Lingemyr, head of unit at the Swedish Transport Administration previously told SVT.

Looking forward to the accident commission’s investigation

The accident commission has decided to investigate the train accident.

– I think that the Accident Commission will come to the conclusion that they have not had sufficient knowledge of how the facility can be affected by the weather, says Alex Weinfors.
