Seher, 9, wants us to pick up trash: “We have to help each other”

Seher Ravza Nurcin and about 20 other litter pickers in the non-profit association Aktiv Generation Uppsala gathered at the center of Gottsunda and walked around for 1.5 hours cleaning the streets and squares.

The fag is our most common trash. It takes one to five years for it to break down into microplastics, which in turn disappear after about 100 years. For a piece of chewing gum, it takes about 20 to 25 years to decompose.

– It doesn’t feel good, says 9-year-old Seher Ravza Nurcin.

Those who had signed up for the Keep Sweden Clean day had registered to go out and pick up litter on their own. Garbage Pickers Day is part of World Clean Up Day – an international movement that has engaged litter pickers worldwide.
