▸ Sweden’s Riksdag votes yes to join the NATO defense alliance. The historic decision comes after the Riksdag today debated the NATO legislation. Since the Social Democrats changed their line in May 2022 on NATO membership, a broad majority in the Riksdag has wanted to join the alliance. Today, the actual decision was thus made after voting in the Riksdag with the result 269-37. However, for Sweden to become a member of NATO, Turkey and Hungary must ratify Sweden’s application.
