The new tabletop game Warhammer: The Old World was announced in 2019. The fantasy giant wants to find its way back to its roots. Now there is new information and a trailer that will prepare you for the coming battles.

What does the game want to offer you? Warhammer: The Old World is a tabletop game set in the Warhammer universe. And so it goes back a bit to the beginning. This game offers you the choice of two starter sets: the “Tomb Kings of Khemri” and the “Kingdom of Bretonnia”.

You can see what the two forces will look like and what the gameplay will be like in a short trailer:

What does the trailer show? In the trailer you can see the figures from the two starter sets, ready for battle. You have the choice between an army of undead, which seems to be inspired by ancient Egypt, or an army of knights who ride Pegasus, among other things.

The trailer then explains a bit about the gameplay without going into too much detail.

However, if you are interested in finding out a little more about the gameplay before you actually hold the rules in your hands, the official website offers more information (via warhammer-community.com).

In Warhammer: The Old World, your strategy is important

The rounds consist of different phases: the strategy phase, the movement phase, the ranged phase and the combat phase.

There are a few rules to follow during each phase, but these are only briefly touched upon in the video. For example, it is pointed out that the different figures can move at different distances, or that there are certain requirements for successful long-distance combat.

When can you play? You should be able to pre-order the starter sets from January 6th. It’s not entirely clear when exactly you’ll get it delivered, but it’ll probably be this month.
