On Thursday, July 4, there was an accident with a fatal outcome on the E18 at the height of Sörstafors. According to the police investigation, there are many indications that a van driver began an unauthorized overtaking, which led to the accident. One man died and the remaining five involved, including a child, were injured. The suspect has admitted that he started the overtaking.
Illegal overtaking continues
Even though there is a straight line between the lanes, some people continue to overtake on the E18 between Hallstahammar and Köping. Ylva Frohm, traffic police in the Mitt region, gets to take part in such a case on video.

– The person in question is overtaking in a place where overtaking is prohibited and that alone is a fine of three thousand kroner, she says.
The video, recorded by a private individual, takes place in about the same place where the fatal accident occurred, just a week later.
