See the harvest of the international nature photo competition

Two impressive bird photos were included from Finland. In one, the swan is released into the wild, in the other, the osprey grabs a double catch.

Two photos taken in Finland did well in the international competition World nature photography awards – in the nature photo competition. Jouni Erola came third in the bird series with his photo Aino. The picture was taken in Juua.

– Aino was found injured and was taking care of my daughter over the winter. The picture shows Aino’s first steps on the frozen pond at the time of its release, Erola says on the page of the competition.

Tom Nickels on the other hand, photographed an osprey with Kangasa and came third in the series of black and white photos.

– The osprey actually caught two fish at once, says Nickels on the page of the competition. The picture is of a catch called Double catch.

The competition featured many series, from underwater events to amphibians and reptiles. Even people in nature could be photographed in one series.

We picked a few gems of the competition for this story.
