During Friday, SMHI upgraded the warning to orange. The reason is rain and snowmelt, which cause high flows in Svartån. The high flow risks causing flooding in the vicinity of the Södra main line – something that can affect train traffic.
From Monday, the warning for Svartån will be extended to also include the part of the watercourse between Boxholm and Tranås.
Highest in 20 years
The high levels are also noticeable elsewhere in the county. Water levels in lakes Roxen and Glan are the highest in 20 years.
– It is full everywhere and full speed on the water everywhere, said Ola Palmquist, business unit manager water power at Tekniska verken in a previous article.
During Saturday morning, the warning was raised to orange in Stångån as well, and there is a risk that train traffic on the Stångådal line will be affected.
