See the devastation after the storm in the interior of Västerbotten – large areas of forest felled by the storm: “Terrible”

Norsjö, Malå and areas in Sorsele are affected. At Norra skog, the damage will be assessed during the week with drones.

– There is talk that there could be a couple of hundred thousand cubic meters on the hill and it seems that the area around Malå has been hit the worst, says Mikael Frisk, timber area manager Norra Skog.

Damages for SEK 100 million

Since the value of forest is calculated at around SEK 500 per cubic meter, the damage could amount to SEK 100 million, he says, although no one has been able to survey the damage yet.
– It is a matter of many millions and there will also be expensive felling costs when the trees are lying like picking sticks, says Mikael Frisk and continues:

– It is dangerous work to cut down the overturned trees manually, we try to help our members with agreements so that they can use forest machines instead.

“Fantastic if no one was hurt”

Karin Siden Lundmark in Malå says that her husband did not get home from work because of all the trees that were on the road. Not until after an hour later did he make it home, thanks to the local residents helping to clear it with tractors.

– It’s fantastic if no one gets hurt, she says.

In the video, you can see how the areas were affected.
