At Stortorget in Ängelholm, there was a party and carnival during the weekend, organized by the municipality and the association Alla kan IF. The Diversity Carnival and the Parasport Festival in the square have existed for several years and according to the organizer, it is unique in Sweden.
– That everyone should be seen at the same meeting place, it warms my heart, says organizer Pelle Sköldbäck.
“A very positive thing happened”
Messages of love and diversity were what united the visitors and the organizers. Children got to test what it’s like to sit in a wheelchair and play basketball, and adults talked about the importance of being open to people’s differences.
– Since I ended up in the chair 25 years ago, a lot of positive things have happened. For example, two years ago we laid out beach mats in Ängelholm. So now I can get into the sea.
