Joshua McErlean and James Fulton resorted to pink glasses to get through the clip. The vision was similar to that seen by Esapekka Lap and Janne Fermi last year.

JYVÄSKYLÄ.
Irish driver duo Joshua McErlean and James Fulton came to the finish line of Vekkula, the last special stage of the Jyväskylä World Rally Championship Saturday, in quite style.
The duo appeared at the finish line wearing pink glasses. They had spun around in the previous special test in Rapsula. The windshield had broken in the same crash.
However, the two made it to the service park in Jyväskylä.
– It was difficult to see out, Fulton managed to say.
The sight resembled the same as last year Esapekka in Lapland and Janne at Fermi. At that time, they pulled without a windshield on the final day of the race, but were able to hold on to third place. Lappi and Ferm also had to rely on the same type of glasses.
Competing in the WRC2 class, McErlean and Fulton lost more than six minutes to the top of the class in their own situation. Before the situation, the duo was seventh in the WRC2 class, but fell sharply on the results list. Wearing ski goggles in Vekkula, he got a jacket for the WRC2 class bottom time driver For Adrien Fourmaux 40 seconds.
– Now it’s just sad, Fulton described when the comparison with Lapland and Fermi came up.
Fulton previously operated by Craig Breen as a map reader in Hyundai’s Rally1 car. Breen died in the tests of the World Rally Championship in Croatia. Fulton was sitting in Breen’s seat, but survived the situation uninjured. There was a lot of bad luck in dying.
The duo only had time to compete in two World Cup rallies.
For Breen, Finland was a meaningful place. In 2016, he took his first podium place at the World Rally Championship in Jyväskylä.
Breen’s memory has been honored in several places during the Jyväskylä World Rally Championship. At Harju’s city special exam, the audience had, for example, a sheet made in memory of Breen. Likewise, a sheet honoring Breen’s memory had already been placed near the Kakaristo crossing for Rapsula’s special test during the race week.
On the ridge, the steward also sent touching greetings to McErlean and Fulton in the starting area. The steward’s sign now wished McErlean and Fulton good luck in the race.
– We miss Craig, the sign read.
McErlean and Fulton already competed together in the Estonian World Rally Championship in a Hyundai R5 car. The duo was eighth in the WRC2 class at the time.
Fulton has appreciated the Finnish audience.
– It’s been great support. This is an iconic place, Fulton praised.
