The following sections of the trail located near the silo area are closed:

  • Upper trail from the south gate on Black Bridge to the section of trail where the upper and lower trails connect.
  • Pedestrian stairs that connect the upper trail and lower trail.

Fencing and signage are in place directing trail users traveling north or south on the lower trail to detour/bypass the closed section. Black Bridge remains open, with signs at the upper trail access at Mechanic Street directing southbound trail users to detour to the lower trail.

A notice from Norfolk County’s communications department urges residents and trail users to respect the barriers and signs.

Norfolk’s trails and pathways aren’t maintained during winter months and surfaces may have a buildup of ice that could pose a risk to walk or ride on.

The parking lot at the end of Nichol Street West remains closed. Alternate parking is available at the lower trail entrance on Concession 8 (Mechanic Street), Thompson Road and Alice Street in downtown Waterford. Nichol Street West remains closed at McCool Street with access available to businesses along McCool Street.
