For months, members of the Jewish religious organization Chabad-Lubavitch tunneled under the synagogue located at 770 Eastern Parkway. The tunnel, which leads to a disused mikvah, was first discovered in December.

The people in the secret tunnels were astonishing. Blood stains were detected on the beds inside, and there was also a baby stroller in the tunnel.
THEY JUMPED INTO THE TUNNELS
Yesterday cement mixers came to block the tunnels. But a group of Orthodox Jews jumped into the tunnels to prevent the work.
A fight broke out between the police and the Jews in the synagogue, and 10 people were detained.
WHY WERE THE HIDDEN TUNNELS DIGED?
On the other hand, various opinions were put forward regarding the purpose of digging the tunnels. The tunnel was reportedly designed to reach an abandoned women’s mikvah, or ritual baths. It has also been suggested that the tunnel was dug to ‘expand’ the synagogue, but it is unclear how this will be done.
