Secret Black Widow sequel hits theaters next year but Scarlett

Last year at Comic-Con in San Diego, the most important films that we are going to see in Phase 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe expect. There was no sequel to Black Widow. That shouldn’t have surprised anyone. After all, Scarlett Johansson had announced her MCU exit long before that.

As it turns out, in phase 5 we still get a film that basically like Black Widow 2 should work. Andy Park revealed this on Instagram. Park works as the director of visual development at Marvel Studios and posted to mark the release of the behind-the-scenes book The Art of Black Widow.

Upcoming Marvel Crossover: Black Widow 2 is hiding in Thunderbolts

Based on Park’s statements, Thunderbolts is sort of a sequel to Black Widow. The film unites several antiheroeswho we have met in various MCU projects over the past few years, above all Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and Yelena Belova aka the new Black Widow ( Florence Pugh)

It has been clear since Comic-Con that the four characters will return in Thunderbolts alongside Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), US Agent (Wyatt Russell) and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). What is new, however, is the information that the film apparently connected directly to Black Widow is. What is striking, however, is that Park has revised his original Instagram post. As The Direct notes, he first wrote:

It’s like it’s a Black Widow sequel and those movies are all connected or something! It’s going to be very interesting.

In the new version he deleted the part with the continuation:

It’s like these movies are all connected or something! It’s going to be very interesting.

Now the question is whether it was just unfortunate phrasing or whether Park actually gave too much away. The idea that Thunderbolts is actually Black Widow 2.0 is not far-fetched. We’ll find out by no later than July 27, 2024when the film comes to German cinemas.
