The premiere at home against Frankfurt ended with a 2–1 loss, after a late reduction by Olivia Schough.
On Wednesday evening, Rosengård fell again in the Champions League group stage. Away against Portuguese league leader Benfica, there was another loss.
After a goalless first half, Benfica took the lead early in the second half. Kika Nazareth ran through Rosengård’s defense before scoring 1–0.
Missed great opportunities
In the final stages of the match, Rosengård had two great opportunities to equalise, first through Mai Kadowaki and then Bea Sprung on the return.
However, Benfica’s goalkeeper Lena Pauels resisted and kept a clean sheet.
– It was an even match but we weren’t good enough in the last third. We have to set our positions, says Olivia Schough in DAZN’s broadcast.
After two games played, Rosengård is last in the CL group, which is topped by reigning champion Barcelona.
