BUNSCHOTEN-SPAKENBURG – The three Utrecht second divisionists are not in good shape at the real restart of the competition. Spakenburg, IJsselmeervogels and GVVV are all much lower than desired. For GVVV it now seems that relegation is almost impossible to avert.

Only profit counts for GVVV

Last weekend, GVVV wanted to reduce the deficit on ASWH, the penultimate state, from four points to one. But after the 3-1 loss against the direct competitor, the gap is seven points. In the away match against TEC, which drew a nice draw against leader Katwijk last week, Mart de Jong and Lars ten Teije are also missing, who were shown red against ASWH and were suspended for one game.

Opponent TEC, trained by Amersfoorter Hans van de Haar and including former Spakenburgers Tom van der Neut and Mike Vreekamp in the selection, is eleventh with 18 points from 14 games. The assignment for GVVV is simple: only profit counts.

Spakenburg without supporters

Spakenburg is in thirteenth place with 15 points, slightly better than GVVV, but has very different concerns. It is up to trainer Chris de Graaf to keep the outburst of violence by the Harde Kern Spakenburg and the subsequent extra intimidation that followed last Tuesday outside the dressing room.

Unlike GVVV, which already played a make-up game last week, Spakenburg will play its first league game since November. De Treffers is the opponent in Groesbeek. That team is the surprising number four in the ranking and especially gets very few goals against.

Spakenburg lacks the injured goalkeeper Menno Heus and midfielder Boy van de Beek, who once played for De Treffers. Due to the recent problems, no Spakenburg fans are welcome in Groesbeek.

Goalkeeper problem at IJsselmeer birds

IJsselmeervogels already played a match, coincidentally also against De Treffers. That game was lost, so that the Reds are now in a p/d place. To make matters worse, goalkeeper Jaimy Schaap was injured last week. Because second keeper Stef Brummel left during the winter break, Julian Prinsen will be under the bar against HHC Hardenberg on Saturday. Rydell Poepon is also missing.

HHC Hardenberg, which almost never loses to IJsselmeervogels, is seventh and has 22 points. The Sallanders played two more matches than IJsselmeervogels.

All three matches in the second division can be followed live via Namen & Rugnummers at Radio M Utrecht. At De Treffers – Spakenburg (kick-off at 2.30 pm) Bert Kous is the reporter. Arnold Schenk will be at IJsselmeervogels – HHC Hardenberg from 3 p.m. and Robert Claus will be in the stands in Tiel when the kick-off is at TEC – GVVV at 3:30 p.m.
