William Poromaa totally saw biathlon.
It has caused a big row between him and several biathlon stars.
– I think I would shoot William Poromaa, says Sebastian Samuelsson to SVT.
There has long been a battle between cross-country skiing and biathlon, as to which sport is actually the greatest. In recent years, the money and prize money have been bigger in biathlon, but the sport with the highest viewership has varied.
Poromaa’s play
The cross country star William Poromaa was in any case clear where he stands on the question of which sport he prefers, when he was a guest on SVT’s program “Kallprat”. Then he described biathlon, among other things, as “beigt”, and poked at biathletes.
– They are not failures (skiers), but… so yes… “hell, it’s a bit tough to go fast on skis, so I try to shoot a little too. Rest a little in between”. I feel a bit like that, quite honestly. I’ve been doing that since I was little, Poromaa said.

The 23-year-old’s word spread quickly and quickly reached the biathletes, causing a war on social media. French biathlete Quentin Fillon Maillet posted a photoshopped picture of Poromaa, where he is thrown from a dance floor by the biathletes Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Ponsilouma for their outings.
– Fillot Maillet wrote to me and asked if it was true, if he had understood what Wille had said. And yes, I could confirm that, so I thought that picture was very funny and he probably thought so too, says Samuelsson to SVT.
Samuelsson’s answer
William Poromaa then responded with a video from a school disco of the quieter kind, and said that it was the kind of party the three biathletes are talking about.
– It was a Frenchman who sent a picture. I don’t think he really knows who he started arguing with so I answered back. They seem to take it personally, so I keep pushing. I think it’s ridiculous, it’s only funny if it’s stirred up and people take offense. It’s just fun, says the skier to Expressen.

But then who would have won a race between a cross-country skier and a biathlete? Sebastian Samuelsson has his theory.
– I think that with a good race I can be on the podium in a skate distance. But I’m doing biathlon and I don’t feel like I need to cross-country ski. We have a very prosperous sport and I am very happy with that. It feels like William is a little frustrated that it doesn’t look the same on the long side, says the biathlete to SVT and continues:
– I think I would beat William Poromaa at all skate distances that actually exist. It probably doesn’t matter how far we go, I think he’ll beat him anyway.
