Sebastian Samuelsson is the reigning world champion.
Still, he finds it difficult to compete with big star Johannes Thingnes Bö.
Now “Sebbe” admits what he really thinks of the Norwegian giant.
The most recent Biathlon World Cup ranked the Norwegian superstar Johannes Thingnes Bö up a whopping five World Cup gold medals to add to the collection of a total of 17 World Cup golds in his career. Add to that five Olympic golds and you all understand how vastly superior he is in men’s biathlon.
Samuelsson’s gold
Someone who constantly chases Thingnes Bö in the tracks and tries to surpass the giant on the shooting ramparts is Swedish Sebastian Samuelsson. He became “Silver-Sebbe” with the entire Swedish people during the 2018 Winter Olympics, but this spring finally got to step on top of the podium in a championship and receive his first individual gold medal.

Samuelsson outshined Thingnes Bö himself in the mass start at the Biathlon World Cup and secured a very impressive World Cup gold in Oberhof. But what is it really like to face the Norwegian arch-rival every week and get beaten time and time again?
Sebbe’s honest words
Sebastian Samuelsson is a guest on the SVT program “Kallprat” and is then asked the extremely sensitive question of what he really thinks of the superior Norwegian.
– You compete against Johannes Thingnes Bö and he is so superior sometimes. Has the thought ever crossed your mind that everything didn’t go right there?, asks the presenter Johan Kücükaslan.
– Well, absolutely not. You think he would cheat?, answers Sebbe quickly.
– I’m not saying that he has done it. But has the thought struck you?, the SVT profile clarifies.

Then Samuelsson gives his brutally honest opinion about the Norwegian superstar and what it’s like to meet him.
– Nah, that thought has never crossed my mind. On the other hand, you may have thought at some point that… Unfair is the wrong word, but he is known for not being the one who trains the most. Then you can feel: “Damn, I train a lot! Still, he goes a minute faster than me”. I may have felt that at some point, but not that there was anything dishonest behind it, says the Swede in the SVT program.
