He has mixed and given quite a bit this season, though Sebastian Samuelsson27, in the relay and sprint he has undeniably been strong. He has managed a win, a second place, three third places and a fourth place during the season.

In 2019, Sebastian and his biathlon colleagues in the men’s national team were awarded the Team of the Year award at the Sports Gala. This year they are nominated again for the same award – this after Samuelsson, Jesper Nelin, Martin Ponsiluoma and Viktor Brandt won WC gold in the relay ahead of Norway. They are also nominated for the Jerring Prize. Unfortunately, none of the nominated biathletes can attend this year’s gala, which takes place at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on January 20.
– I have declined the invitation I have received, says Sebastian Samuelsson according to the site langd.se.

Samuelsson does not believe in victory
The reason is that he will be almost 150 miles from Stockholm that day. He competes in Ruhpolding, Germany, January 15-19 and does not make it home. He has decided not to attend the gala. The week after the World Cup competitions in Ruhpolding, they will compete in Antholz-Anterselva, which is nearby.
– I’ve been to the Sports Gala twice and it’s a fantastically nice evening, great fun to be there, but it doesn’t suit our schedule at all, he says.

Samuelsson also does not think that a new prize for the men’s biathlon is relevant. In addition to the four skaters, there is also their national team captain John Luke nominated for the Coach of the Year award, which he won in 2019.
– I don’t think I’ll win any prize either, so then it’s easy to say no. There have been summer Olympics and many great performances there, so I think there are many who have better chances, he says.
Who do you think will win the Jerring Prize this year? There are many great sportsmen and women who are nominated. Would be interesting to hear what you think. Please write a comment!
