Sebastian Samuelsson is now highly praised by the biathlon icon – after incredible success in the World Cup: “Better than ever”

It has been a good start to the season for Sebastian Samuelsson.
Now the biathlete is highly praised.
– He has made huge progress this summer, says biathlon expert Uschi Disl to Radiosporten.

Sebastian Samuelsson debuted in the World Cup in 2016 already as a 19-year-old. Since then, he has won Olympic gold in the relay in 2018, World Cup gold in the mass start in 2023, and won five victories in the World Cup. Samuelsson also has an Olympic silver and a bunch of WC silver and bronze.

Samuelsson’s start of the season

The last individual win in the World Cup came on Sunday, in the pursuit start. Even though Samuelsson had one bar more than the runner-up Philip Nawrath could he still take home the victory with the competition’s second fastest ride time. Also on home snow in Östersund. The season has started very well for Samuelsson.

The 26-year-old started by winning the single-mix relay together with Hanna Öberg in the premiere. In the distance race, he came seventh, despite a stable race with the fastest ride time, but three misses were three too many.
In the men’s relay, the team had many interruptions but still ended up in a stable sixth place, thanks in large part to Samuelsson’s fine performance in the last laps. And in the sprint, the Östersund native ended up just outside the podium after another good race but two misses.

Disl’s Tribute

On Sunday, Samuelsson’s first victory of the season finally came, and he is now being praised for that.
– It’s obvious, he has the absolute best driving time – again. And it shows how good his form is right now, says the biathlon expert Uschi Disl to Radiosporten.

Disl believes that Samuelsson’s fine form will continue.
– He looks much more fit than last year. He has certainly laid a good foundation for this season and I am confident that he can maintain it.

The former biathlete also believes that Samuelsson is in his best shape ever.
– He definitely is. He has made huge strides this summer. He was able to train well all summer. Samuelsson trains a lot on his treadmill and it’s a good training opportunity, because you always have control over how your form is because it’s always the same conditions. He has worked hard this summer, says Disl to the radio channel’s website.
