Sebastian Samuelsson just missed the podium in Sunday’s mass start in Ruhpolding.
Afterwards, he spoke of the irritation he felt during the race when he and Frenchman Émilien Jacquelin rode around shouting at each other.
– We disagreed, he tells SVT Sport.
It has been a nice first half of the biathlon season too Sebastian Samuelsson27, who has maintained a generally high level in most competitions. So far, there have been seven podium places, two of which were victories in the mixed relay. The individual victories, on the other hand, are more difficult to achieve.
Samuelsson explains the jargon
In Sunday’s 15 km mass start, Samuelsson started strongly and he went out hard early. It was both good and bad. He lay for a long time arguing with the French skaters Emily Jacquelinewho was also in the top tier initially.

Samuelsson and Jacquelin were seen having a heated exchange during the race. Now the Swede tells us what it was all about.
– I think it’s a bit ungrateful to shoot completely lying down. I think the first two laps it was me and Émilien Jacquelin yelling at each other about who was going to pull. We disagreed and tried to help each other, but the first part of the course is so easy, he tells SVT Sport.
Sebastian’s disappointment afterwards
Sebastian Samuelsson was a little dissatisfied with his own performance after the finish. Although he came fourth, with the fifth best ride time and the twentieth best shooting time, he felt that he really had more to give.
– I shoot fast today, but there are many who shoot fast. I feel like I’m losing a little. Even though I shoot in 25 seconds at a standstill, I would have liked to shoot a few seconds faster, he says.

The Biathlon World Cup begins in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, on February 12 and runs until February 23. Last year’s WC resulted in three relay medals for Sweden, one gold, one silver and one bronze. Then Sweden came fourth in the medal league. France and Norway were superior in that championship.
Too bad it wasn’t a podium place for you, Sebastian. Better luck next time. You’ve shown good form all season and hopefully you’ll be fully charged for the WC in February. We believe in you!
