Sebastian Larsson is moved to tears in Master of Masters – after the beautiful and emotional tribute: “I am very proud”

Emotions overflowed for Sebastian Larsson in Master of Masters.
When the tribute film to him was shown on SVT, the tears came immediately.
– I feel very proud of what I was able to accomplish during my career, he admits in the TV program.

It always gets emotional when the SVT program “Mästarnas mästare” presents the tribute films to the athletes’ fantastic careers. Just ask Sebastian Larsson which was incredibly touched on during Sunday night’s episode.

Where we get to see his incredible free kicks in England, his admirable passion and ardor on the football field and how tough it was to leave Sweden and the security as a 16-year-old.
– One of Sweden’s internationally most successful footballers. It was Arsenal who discovered him but it was in Birmingham and Sunderland that he came closest to being declared immortal. The fans loved his enthusiasm and leadership qualities – and of course the free kicks, says the presenter Mike Leijnegard in SVT.
– The English league is perhaps the best in the world. Fierce competition and no tolerance for mistakes. That you, Sebastian, managed to stand out and become one of the greats in it. That you are in joint fourth place on the top list of free-kick goals scored in the Premier League of all time. You are beaten by Cristiano Ronaldo with only one goal and it sends you to the top floor of the football gods.

But it was not easy to leave the family home in Eskilstuna to move to big London, aged just 16.
– You thought you were an adult. But there were many sleepless nights, I called home and cried, says “Seb” in the program.

Sebastian’s tears

Then the focus is on a special moment in Larsson’s football career, namely the feat against Italy in the play off for the World Cup 2018. When Sweden sensationally knocked out the great power by keeping a clean sheet for 180 minutes over two unforgettable matches at the end of 2017.

The 12-year wait was over for Sebastian Larsson, who reached the World Cup for the first time in his career and fulfilled a childhood dream.
– 96 bloody international matches to get to a World Cup, I can’t describe the feeling. It’s sick, he says with tears in his eyes during the interview after the match.
– Goosebumps, another participant tells him.

“Hat off!”

Larsson then receives a video greeting from his old national team captain Jan Andersson and then the 38-year-old is moved to tears.
– Sebastian, a fantastic winning skull. Always loyal and always one hundred percent in everything he does. A fantastic attitude and also a damn nice and good guy to spend time with, says Janne.
– You are incredibly impressed by the career. To maintain such a high level throughout his career with the national team and to top it off with a WC tournament. Hats off!, also says the participant Joel Lundqvist.

It really goes straight to the heart when Sebastian Larsson gets to look back on his career and it is a Swedish player who deserves more praise than he has actually received over the years.
– I feel very proud of what I was able to accomplish during my career. Above all, I am proud of many matches in the Premier League, many matches in the national team and many years at the highest level. I am proud of that, he summarizes his tribute film in Mästarnas mäster.
