In WoW Classic, people have a special, very old sense of humor. They troll their fellow players in a nasty way – and cause chaos for hours.
The Season of Discovery is Blizzard’s attempt to breathe new life into the “classic” world of World of Warcraft. There’s new content, new abilities and even fresh raids and PvP objectives in the world.
But above all, the “old hands” always find their way back to an age-old tradition: devastate the capitals and ensure that no one can pursue trade in peace.
What kind of chaos is happening? In the WoW Classic subreddit, evidence is repeatedly shown that there seems to be one main goal for some: to disrupt life in the capital cities and unleash a small apocalypse. In the last few days there have been numerous screenshots showing that someone has moved “Teremus the Devourer” or “Volchan” to Stormwind.
How does this work? The basic idea behind this chaos is to “kite” a particularly strong enemy from the open world over a long distance – that is, to drag him behind you without him being reset or killing the player character. Hunters generally excel at this task, but other classes can also achieve this with perseverance and skill.
As soon as you manage to get this enemy to a capital city, the chaos will unleash itself. City guards intervene in the fight, large area spells grill players and NPCs alike and it often takes a long time until the enemy mob is finally defeated and peace reigns again.
This method of “trolling” dates back to the first beta tests of World of Warcraft. They tried something like that back then – and Blizzard even ended up overrunning the cities with mobs to end the beta.
That’s why this is particularly cheeky: This is particularly nasty at the moment because there are no heroes at level 60 who could “clean up”. In the Season of Discovery, players are currently limited to level 25, as the season runs in phases with different level caps. So if an elite opponent at level 50 or higher runs amok in Stormwind, there’s little Alliance characters can do about it.
Due to the level difference, the mob will dodge almost every attack or resist spells anyway. This then leads to a very, very long battle with lots of skeletons and some frustrated heroes who just wanted to make a few gold in the auction house.
Do you regularly join in this chaos? Or is that not for you?
The Horde also likes to do this and Thunder Rock is attacked by green dragons.
