Season 21 could create an ultimate PvP threat that already hurts me

Destiny 2 will again make seasonal balance changes in Season 21, which should lead to fresh playstyles. While the Warlocks still trust their starfire protocol, one of the new exo combos is really hurting me because it could get incredibly powerful.

What will Destiny 2 change? Live service games like Destiny 2 are constantly evolving. Players can mostly play with outstanding Exotics for a while. But when one of these exotics becomes too powerful and dominates everything, its days are numbered.

And so Bungie will also make changes to a total of 24 exotics in Season 21. This should ensure that other exotic armor, which has been dormant in your virtual closet for years, also gets its moment of glory.

  • The “Starfire Protocol”, one of the most powerful solar exotics of the warlock at the moment, is drastically nerfed because it was the only choice for many warlocks.
  • The Point Contact Cannon Tripod titan exo has its lightning strike damage increased by 50% in PvE to make it more interesting.
  • The St0mpees-EE5 are relieved of their imposed efficiency penalties in the air but also coupled to your dodge power.
  • And there’s another small change to the hunter that could make an already strong exo-weapon even stronger in Season 21 – especially in PvP.

This exo combo is already hurting me

That sounds potentially overwhelming: In Bungie’s blog post, the change to Season 4’s Hunter Exotic Pledge of Allegiance sounded pretty harmless.

  • When a bow is fully drawn, there is a bonus to damage against fighters that increases the longer you draw it, but disables after a few seconds.
  • Bungie didn’t reveal how much more damage. However, even a small amount could make a significant and noticeable difference.

Legendary bows would definitely get a little more punch with this combo. However, the perk will work with Exo-Bows as well. There will probably be three bows that could particularly benefit from the buff: “Le Monarque”, “Wisher” and “Leviathan Breath”.

With the “Wisher”, players in PvP have a legal wallhack that has always been more effective with the exotic armguard “Oath of Allegiance”. Some like to use it.

The Leviathan Breath heavy bow could also be an interesting candidate for the armor exotic. Bungie has long wanted to encourage its use. Maybe this time.

But the poison bow “Le Monarque” would probably be really nasty with it. He has long been an integral part of player loadouts. Both in PvE and in PvP.

  • In PvE, he has proven to be an extremely effective disruptor against Overload champions.
  • In PvP, he can severely damage a Warden’s shield with his nasty poison impulses after just one hit. This varies depending on the level of resilience.
  • Should the buff also affect the poison arrows after the bow has been fully drawn, then the new meta for Season 21 would already be set.

    Will you try this combo?

That could still kill the mega combo: In the end, it all depends on the strength of the damage buff that Bungie will be giving into trust and how well you’ve tuned that. The fine tuning is a very narrow degree with this station wagon.

  • If the buff is too high and kills a keeper with a single shot from season 21, then the hunter class with the exo combo becomes really dangerous.
  • However, if the buff is too weak, the combination could just as quickly disappear into oblivion. After all, why hold your bow charge when you can fire two arrows at the same time that do more damage?
  • However, it could also be that Bungie is forcing you to make a decision and the change will not affect the Exotic Poison Arc at all.

  • To get the nasty poison arrows, Wardens must shoot the arrow within one second after the bow is fully drawn. So if you have to hold for too long to max out the exotic’s new damage buff, Pledge of Allegiance, you could lose the poison damage option.
  • In the Destiny Reddit, players also discussed whether the new damage buff will be active in PvP at all. Thus the guardian yotika writes: “It means “fighter” [nicht „Gegner“] so PvE. The bonus damage doesn’t matter in PvP.”

It won’t be long before the Guardians can find out for themselves. The new Season 21 in Destiny 2 starts on May 23rd at 7:00 p.m. and we are sure that the combination “Le Monarque” and “Oath of Allegiance” will be one of the first that players will try.

What do you think of the potentially overwhelming PvP combo? Do you think the damage buff from Pledge of Allegiance and Le Monarque could be too strong? Or do you think Bungie has cleverly adjusted to keep everything within limits? But maybe you also have a completely different Exo combo in mind for Season 21 that you think is particularly strong? Then the German Destiny 2 community happily revealed it in the comments.
