Season 2 isnt coming and these are the reasons

For years, Netflix has been pushing series fans into group therapy with cancellations. First the wrestling show Glow was knocked out, then Warrior Nun retired and finally sunk in 1899. However, nobody saw this decision coming: the streaming service canceled Wednesday – although a second season was announced.

Netflix announces cancellation of Wednesday

In a tweet from NetflixGeeked with the comment “Slay Queen! 😢” the following statement was published:

To our Wednesday family: We saw your cosplay. We saw your TikTok dances. We wish we could bring Wednesday back for a second season or give a reason for the ending. Unfortunately we don’t want that. Thanks for watching and until the next content dump. #WednesdayForever

Is Jenna Ortega to blame for the Wednesday ending?

Goth Girl Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) fans will be stunned by the news. The series was considered a hit. It was extended by a second season. How did Netflix come to the decision to cancel? Several credible insiders name one person responsible: leading actress Jenna Ortega.

Jenna Ortega made too high demands

“Jenna Ortega Made Outrageous Claims Ahead of Season 2”quoted the Hollywood Reporter a person from the production environment. And further:

She demanded that her scenes make sense in the context of the series, that Wednesday not be effeminate, that the writing staff cut a redundant love triangle, and that more money go into visual effects. She also called for humane working hours and sick days in the case of recognizable Covid symptoms.

In summary, the unnamed source explains: “Absurd demands of this kind cannot be reconciled with the careful planning of Netflix series!”

What is really behind the cancellation: New series offensive

Some observers regard Ortega as a scapegoat. As evidence of this, a memo from Netflix executives states, according to Deadline:

We could produce Wednesday, create decent working conditions for season 2 and invest more money. But we could also shoot new series, release them without advertising and pray that one of them hits the nerve of the time in the first 24 hours.

The memo reveals plans for a series offensive “unimaginable originality” out. These three ideas for new Netflix series are mentioned in it:

  • Idea 1: A young gardener with extraordinarily sharp fingertips has to choose between an absolutely harmless bubble tea seller and a musically gifted telepathic person. Working title: Edward.
  • Idea 2: A 16 year old ghost becomes the prime suspect in a series of murders at an elite undead academy and must prove his innocence. Working title: Casper.
  • Idea 3: A teen detective travels to a sleepy town at the end of the 18th century, where several headless corpses are found. Working title: Ichabod.
  • All three series are from the “esteemed” and “duped” designed for multiple seasons but never received more than one. The reasoning:

Netflix creates great stories that make the whole world laugh and cry. And there’s never been a greater global interest in a Netflix series than when it’s canceled after a cliffhanger and our beloved fans fight to save it with hashtag campaigns. 🥰
