Season 1 brings new gems that promise “silly broken builds” – they are

Season 1 brings new items to Diablo 4. The most important of these are Spiteful Hearts, a new type of gem intended to enable new and more powerful builds. Blizzard has now introduced the 4 types of hearts.

What are these “gems”?

  • Spiteful Hearts are the special game mechanic in Season 1. They are dropped by Spiteful Monsters after a hard fight.
  • You can place the hearts like gems in specific socket slots in amulets and rings instead of the gems you would otherwise place.
  • There will be 4 types of Gems in similar categories to the Legendary Aspects: Offensive (“Felvious”), Defensive (“Brutal”), Versatile (“Devious”), and Ultimate or Super (“Furious”). There are 32 different gems in total.
  • What do the gems bring? The concrete effects of the hearts are not yet known. Players suspect that they will function similarly to the Legendary Gems in Diablo 3, although there they supported builds rather than defining them.

In the Dev Update for Season 1, Lead Game Producer Tim Ismay said that the new gems are “like legendary items, maybe more.” If you use them, they should ensure that you can build “silly new broken builds”. .

Ironically, some of the best builds are likely to be nerfed before Season 1. As soon as we know all gems in detail, you will find a complete list here on MeinMMO.

Season 1: Hearts should be “like legendary items, maybe even more than that”

Where can I get the gems? The Hearts are dropped by Vicious Enemies and can be crafted at Cormond’s Wagon. Cormond is a new NPC driving the new side story in Season 1.

Spiteful enemies are a new variant of elite enemies that can appear in infested areas. After defeating such an enemy, he will drop a heart. If you use it, a small event starts with an even stronger opponent. If you defeat this, you will receive a Wicked Heart.

There will also be new caves where you can specifically farm such hearts or crafting material for them. The crafting is supposed to work similar to the system of seals for nightmare dungeons.

Even before Sesaon 1 starts, a new patch is supposed to appear on July 18th. This will flash the Season and you can check out the new Legendaries and Uniques that are coming into play. This even works on the Eternal Realm, you don’t need a season character for it.

For other mechanics like the Battle Pass and the Wicked Hearts, however, you have to play the season. You can find the important information about the season in our overview:
