A large search effort has been carried out in Jävre, south of Piteå, in the search for missing Elliott, 20.
The police received a tip that a car might be at the bottom of the sea.
– It could be a car, but at the moment it is extremely unclear what it is, says Elisabeth Glaas, press spokesperson at the police.
The police began a search operation just before half past one on Monday. It was investigated whether the trail could lead to Elliot, 20, who disappeared from the Jävre area in November last year. He has now been missing for eight months.
Relatives of the missing person are informed that the investigation measure has been carried out.
Tips from the public
The search effort was initiated due to a tip to the police that there would be something at the bottom of the sea that had triggered the sonar. The informant said it could be a car.
– It could be a car, but at the moment it is extremely unclear what it is about, says Elisabeth Glaas, press spokesperson at the police and continues:
– Information is often received in cases of missing persons, and we are extremely grateful that the public gets in touch, says Elisabeth Glaas, press spokesperson at the police.
No car found
The police are secretive about the outcome of the search operation and whether it has been completed.
– Since we are searching the area due to a missing person, we will notify relatives before we release the results of the search effort, says Elisabeth Glaas.
According to NSD the police must have finished the operation, and the police on the scene must have said that no car was found. Instead, it could be a rock, or other object that triggered the sonar.
