Sean “Diddy” Combs freed from two charges

Sean “Diddy” Combs is found guilty at two out of five charges, the New York Court announces.
The hip hop mogul is found guilty for two cases of trafficking and is simultaneously released for extortion and two cases of sex trafficking.
“It is a great defeat for the prosecutor,” says Fredrik Bergman Evans, expert in American law.

During the trial, 34 people testified against P Diddy about, among other things, rape, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. But that hip -hop mogul was charged with were two cases of blackmail, two cases of sex trading and two cases of trafficking.

The jury agreed on Tuesday on a judgment for four of the five charges, but disagreed with the indictment on extortion.

So P Diddy is now being sentenced for prostitution offenses, but is released for charges of sex trading and blackmail. The penalty will be announced later.

“Shot in the foot”

One of the people who accused the rapper was his former girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura. Sean Combs was charged with exposed her to sex trafficking, something he is now acquitted from.

– The main indictment is organized crime, which is hugely serious crime, now he is acquitted, which indicates that the jury has gone on the line of defense – that Cassie Ventura was not forced, without doing so voluntarily, says Fredrik Bergman Evans, expert in US law and head of the foundation center for justice.

He thinks Wednesday’s message is a major defeat for the prosecutor’s side.

– My assessment was that you spanned the bow too hard, it is possible that prosecutors shot themselves in the foot and should have focused on the more mild charges from the beginning.

Sex parties with drugs

According to the indictment, P Diddy must have abused women and boys in connection with so-called “freak-offs”, parties with drugs and sexual elements. According to the prosecutor, the crime must have been going on for 20 years.

Combs was arrested in September last year and has consistently denied crime.
