The top names were informed last week that personal cases had been opened against them and that they had a week to submit their statements. No decision on exclusion has yet been made, but the cases mean that they cannot be chosen on SD’s ballot papers in Sunday’s election.
Prodded the SD politician: False accusations
Göran Ek, SD’s former acting deputy district chairman in Stockholm city, believes that the accusations that form the basis of the personal investigation are false and that he was able to refute all of them.
He also believes that the usual train schedule was not followed in the investigation of the personal matter and that instead of going via the district board and the membership committee to the party board, the matter was dealt with directly in the membership committee.
– In my case, the next party board meeting is on October 12, so at least three weeks is the normal time. But in this case, it has skipped all stages, says Göran Ek
The member committee’s response: The case does not deviate
Martin Kinnunen, member of the Sweden Democrats’ member committee, believes that the handling of the personal matter does not deviate from other matters and according to him the response times vary depending on how much time is available for processing the matter
– We received information that there was a problem with the individual in August and after that no party board meeting takes place before the election, he says.
According to him, the suspension is due to the fact that there was concern within the party that the two top names would contribute to division and cooperation difficulties after the election.
– It is a matter that is based on conflicts and the risk of quarrels that we believe could worsen, if such difficulties arise, it can lead to violence and we want to avoid that at all costs. Now we feel very comfortable that we have good conditions for the regional council to work after the next election, says Martin Kinnunen.
