The Swedish Film Institute, SVT and the regional film funds now want to see a government investigation into the issue of a Swedish streaming tax, reports Cultural news.
However, opinions differ among the parties in the Riksdag. The Social Democrats, the Moderates, the Center Party and the Christian Democrats are against it, while the Liberals and the Sweden Democrats think it sounds like a good idea.
The Green Party and the Left Party have not taken a position.
In several European countries the tax model already exists, but in Denmark, for example, it had the opposite effect when Viaplay and Netflix stopped production in the country.
