It was during the night of Saturday that the high-ranking SD politician in Blekinge is suspected of having raped a woman in a hotel.
According to information to Riks, a party must have taken place in the hotel room earlier in the evening.
Now the local politician is excluded with immediate effect and has resigned from all assignments, the party channel reports.
– I received papers last night that they have made this decision, I can confirm that, says Fredrik Thomasson, chairman of the Sweden Democrats in Blekinge.
The man must be arrested by prosecutors.
The Sweden Democrats’ press department writes in an email to TV4 Nyheterna that they will not comment on the case further, but that it is a matter for the police and prosecutors.
“We take extremely seriously what has emerged. As soon as the information became known to the party, we made the decision to exclude the person with immediate effect. If the judiciary finds the suspected perpetrator to be guilty, we hope that he will be severely punished for his actions,” the party writes in a press release.
