“With Lady Busty and Miss Shameless, you get to experience a story time where the world can be just as different, big and loving as it actually is” – that’s the description of the story time that the LGBTQ-certified library has booked for the 2023 sports holiday.
But now the story time is ruled out by the culture and leisure board’s incoming chairman Magnus Isgren (SD).
— We felt that maybe in this particular case we have to step in and stop. It is mainly the choice of name that disturbs. If you call yourself “Babsan” or the like, be nice, says Magnus Isgren to the newspaper.
Lady Busty and Miss Shameless have received threats and hate for their fairytale moments recently. Drag story hour is a concept that was started in San Francisco in 2015. The phenomenon came to Sweden in 2017, but it is only now that the event has started to arouse such outrage that several library operations have been threatened.
When the library in Olofström was threatened in mid-October, it was decided to hold a story time with the drag show artists digitally, while Malmö city library earlier this autumn brought in security guards to be able to carry out the event in a safe manner.
