In the press release, the Sweden Democrats write that they have received indications through rumors that the person, whom they do not name, was a member. It subsequently turned out to be true, whereupon an exclusion case was opened.
The person is then said to have been informed about the process and must then have asked to leave the party, according to SD.
The party further writes that in connection with this in an email they expressed to the person that they are not behind the burning of the Koran:
“The Sweden Democrats have never expressed a desire for you or anyone else to create public opinion in our name by burning books. As a member of a party, you cannot stage controversial opinions without the party sanctioning it. If you had consulted the party whether it was constructive and desirable to demonstrate by burning the Koran, we would have strongly discouraged it.”
