The EU Parliament approved on Thursday that final negotiations may begin with the Council of Ministers on four of the parts of the Asylum and Migration Pact that the European Commission presented in autumn 2020.
The vote numbers were around 420 yes, 130 no and around 30 closed.
Of the Swedish members, M, KD, L, C, S and MP voted yes to all four proposals, while SD and independent former SD member Peter Lundgren said no to all four. V said yes to the proposal on crisis measures, but no to the others.
Among other countries, it is noted that Italy’s governing parties, even on the extreme right, almost unanimously voted yes to the proposals. Denmark’s three government parties were in turn among the few within the parliament’s social democratic and liberal groups who voted against both the proposal on crisis measures and the main proposal for which Tomas Tobé was responsible.
