Scream VI has an end credits scene, making fun of the MCU

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

With Scream VI, the iconic meta-slasher series moves to New York City for a particularly brutal franchise chapter. That makes a lot different than all previous scream films of the last 26 years. The biggest surprising innovation here: For the first time, there is a post-credits scene after the credits to admire.

Anyone who feels the urge to storm out of the cinema at the end of the 2-hour Ghostface chase through Manhattan should keep in mind that there is a small bonus after the credits.

Is it worth staying seated for the credits scene? No, the scene is rather minor and just a nice meta-gag in the Scream tradition.

For those curious and those who may have missed the post-credits scene, below is an explanation of what’s behind the unexpected Scream VI scene.

Scream VI’s post-credit scene defies your franchise expectations

The “Core Four” are back in Scream VI

The Scream series is known for delivering scathing meta-comments on the movie industry with each new installment. After sequels, trilogy, reboot and requels Scream VI is now tackling franchises – including the trademark of the end credits scenes.

Post-credit scenes have become a real pop culture phenomenon in recent years. Especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they serve to prepare upcoming films and introduce new characters for future projects. And Scream VI mocks this expectation with its own end credits scene.

As the credits roll across the screen, main character Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) reappears, who earlier in the film gave a lengthy monologue about the mechanics of a franchise. Now she says goodbye to the cinema audience with the words: “Movies don’t always need an end credits scene“.

Basically, the post-credits scene is just about a Scream-typical meta gag and no more. This bonus does not directly link to the end of the film, nor does it prepare for a potential Scream 7. So you don’t miss anything essential if you leave the cinema beforehand.
