Scott gives up trying to become a presidential candidate

Less than three weeks ago, former Vice President Mike Pence made the same announcement and stepped down. Now Tim Scott announces that he thanks himself, reports Politico and refers to an interview with Scott on the Fox television channel.

The voters, according to Scott, have given him a clear message that it is not the time for him, not now. He says he does not intend to favor any other of the remaining names.

“The best thing I can do is not get involved,” Scott tells interviewer Trey Gowdy.

Donald Trump leads by a large margin in the opinion polls conducted on who Republican voters want to be nominated as the party’s presidential candidate and run against Joe Biden in the presidential election next year.

Remaining in the race among the Republicans, in addition to Trump, are the former governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, the former US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, the entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and the governor of Florida Ron DeSantis.
